55 New Things at 55!

So, when I turned 50 years old, I was a little bummed and thought life might be over. I compiled 50 new things and adventures over the next year in my 50th year and made a Blog post. Well, I'm already at another milestone turning 56. So I guess it is time to look back over the last few years and come up with 55 more NEW things I've done!

60. Spent the day on Cedar Mountain building King Benjamin's Tower with Dan for Youth Conference.
Bring on the multitude!
" For the multitude being so great that king Benjamin could not teach them all within the walls of the temple, therefore he caused a tower to be erected, that thereby his people might hear the words which he should speak unto them." Mosiah 2:7.





59. Did Yoga on the Beach and Zumba poolside
in Riviera Maya, Mexico over Spring Break. 2017



58. Picked Oranges off the tree in AZ with Lindsey's family and Andrew and Aspen.


57. Enjoyed the 'Grand' view at at the South Rim.




56. Ziplined at Diamante in Costa Rico!


55. Climbed to the top of Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale AZ.


54. Commissioned my niece, Leslie Conley, @every_hue on Instagram
to create Mission Memory Art for my kids for Christmas.






53. Rang the bell to collect money for the Salvation Army at Christmas time
They are very generous to the students at Millcreek High School.


52. Got my first school pictures taken in like 30 years!


51. Spent the weekend in Zion Park with friends hiking, biking, eating and relaxing.



50. Attended the Adobe Max Convention in San Diego, CA.
Invited to the most spectacular party ever! 


49. Saturday morning breakfast at the famous Cottage Restaurant
 in La Jolla after a near two hour wait. 

48. Spent the weekend at Duck Creek with friends, Enjoyed 4-Wheeling, eating and
playing guitar and singing the oldies with our 'old' friends.



47. Hiked to the top of Angel's Landing in Zion Park with these fun
ladies from my ward. Oct. 2016



46. Met The Piano Guys while shopping at Lin's Marketplace. They were filming their new music video and I was asked to be in it. All I had to do was dance like no one was watching to their version
of "Can't Stop the Feeling"


45. Attended the temple wedding sealing of our final child, Andrew Christian Flake
to the lovely Aspen Stewart in the Manti LDS temple.
So pleased that all of children were able to be with us in the temple together.




44. Invited to attend the Tuachan production of Peter Pan with an old high school friend,
Lora Mortenson Rigby. We hadn't seen each other for 30 plus years,
but she had an extra ticket and called me up and invited me.


43. Planned and executed a fun Flake Family Reunion at Zion. July 2016



42. Witnessed the graduation from UVU of my son Dawson with  a bachelor of Science Degree
 and his wife Jade with an Associate of Science Degree.
 That's our third child with a degree and just one more to go.


Welcomed baby Max to the Taylor family. February 2016. Grand baby #6. 



41. Celebrated at the temple wedding of Dawson and Jade in October 2015.






40. Visited the old Mt. Trumbell schoolhouse on the AZ strip.


39. Enjoyed the view of the Grand Canyon. We got there at sunset, camped, 
enjoyed the sunrise and then headed to the Bar 10 Ranch where 
Andrew was working that summer. We got to go horseback riding with the crew.




38. Hosted a neighborhood slip and slide  BBQ party; now a yearly tradition. 


37.  Finally dared jump off the waterfall at Grapevine Springs, Kolab. 
August 2015


36. Attended the World Famous Enterprise Rodeo on a warm summer night in August. 



35. Got up close and personal in Bryce Canyon.



34. Wrote and published a book for my family's Christmas Gift. Nov. 2015



33. Survived the remodeling of my kitchen in the fall of  2015.



32. Watched General Conference at a condo in Park City with the family. Fall 2015 



31. Hiked Hidden Canyon in Zion with the family.


30. Witnessed the old 1995 Ford F350 Truck turn over 400,000 miles on our trip to Bear Lake
 for our Datwyler reunion. Still going strong....July 2015


29. Rode mountain bikes around Navajo Lake on Cedar Mountain with the family. 




28. Shared the story of the "Teeny, Tiny lady" around the campfire for the first
time with my grand kids while camping at Pine Valley. 


27. Spent hours looking for the Summit Rock (worth $10,000) with the family.
We came up empty handed but had a good time looking.



26. Toured the Frank Lloyd Wright  
Taliesin West Home in Scottsdale, AZ. 


25. Discovered the hidden jewel town of Fountain Hills,  AZ




24. Hiked to the top of Eagle Crags in Zion where the boys put up a hammock for me to take a rest. 
May 2015.


23. Stayed in the closest room to the ocean at the closest condo to the ocean in Maui. 


22. Got a shiner while Boogie Boarding at Big Beach in Maui when I got slammed into the
 bottom of the ocean by a killer wave. May 2015.



21. Performed with the famous Millcreek High Teacher and Staff dancers
at the end of year assembly. I usually get to help with the choreography.

20. Ate a green dinner with the Jackson family to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. March  2015.


February 2015
19. Mountain biking and camping on Gooseberry Mesa. 
Dan built the trailhead and bathroom there. 




18. Saw The Piano Guys in Concert at the Tuachan outside amphitheater. 
Fall 2014


17. Took all of the grand kids to Staheli Farm and sat in the big rocking chair! 


16. Took all of the family out to Warner Valley 4-wheeling. 



15. Welcomed back Elder Andrew Flake and had family pictures in Snow Canyon. 




14. Took a fun getaway to California where we rented a six man bike
like we used to do when our kids were younger. 


13. Took both our Spanish speaking boys to Cancun, Mexico for spring break after the return of Andrew from his mission in El Salvador.


We discovered beautiful cenotes (underground river caves) while vacationing 
in beautiful Riviera, Maya.



12. Did yoga with Master Fernando at the Mayan Palace, Rivera Maya. March 2015.


11. Proud of our third DSU graduate! Dawson graduated with honors. 


10. Welcomed Elder Andrew Flake home from his mission. 
He hadn't seen a carpeted floor for two years. 




9. Attended the baby blessing of Lucy Taylor in Pleasant Grove.
 She was born to Carlton and Lindsey in Philadelphia, PA.  January 2014


8. Sent my baby, Elder Andrew Flake on a two year mission to El Salvador. 
January 2014


7. Welcomed new Baby Caden Jackson who was blessed in November 2014
son of Steve and Danielle Jackson, Washington, UT. Grand baby #5! 


6. Met Wicka Witch at Staheli Farms in Washington with Alexa. October 2014


5. Attended the Phoenix temple open house with the littles and their parents. October 2014


4. Experienced the beauty of  Sedona, AZ where we celebrated Dan's birthday. 


3. Discovered Sister City Park with my sisters and cousin while visiting Carmel by the Sea.

2.  At the bedside of my sweet angel mother-in-law as she slipped from
earth to her heavenly home. Such a beautiful, peaceful, spiritual passing. 
Burial is Clarksville, Tennessee next to her sweetheart, Darrell. 


1. Remembered 9/11 with lots of Cougar fans in Provo! God bless the USA!
